Hi Guys

Our customer is looking for a clock, the requirement:

  • Over 4 CHANELS;
  • Operation frequency around 5GHz;(lower 5GHz is also OK)
  • Important point: Low latency between channels(<2ps better);

Do we have some device can meet these requirement?

    The closest we have in terms of frequency is:
    LMX2582/92/94.

    Over 4. Meaning 5 or more? These devices have two differential outputs. So if you consider each output single endedly, that would be 4 outputs, however the positive and negative output of a pair would be 180 degrees out of phase (but deterministic).

    If differential or same phase is required, could 2x or 3x of these devices be considered with common reference to get the number of needed clocks?

    We also have the TRF3765 which operates up to 4.8 GHz which will provide 4 differential outputs. Again if you can use single endedly that will give you more clocks.

    As for clocking chips, the LMK04832 can be used as fan-out buffer/divider of up to 3250 MHz. The CDCLVP110 is a buffer which can go up to 3.5 GHz. These you will get 14 or 10 outputs with, but frequency is not as high as requested.

    Thanks Timothy. We will discuss the device you mentioned with customer. One more question: do we have more devices with lower stray to LMX2582. 2.5GHz frequency point.

    Yes, at 2.5 GHz we have many options. Try typing your requirements into http://ti.com/clockarchitect/.

    Options range from LMK00301/8/6/4 for simple fanout to LMK04832 for jitter cleaning/clock generation/fan-out with many outputs and options for SYSREF. LMK04906 could also be used for jitter cleaning/clock generation/fan-out with > 4 outputs but no option for SYSREF. LMK04806 is similar to LMK04906 with more outputs.
