LMX2594: Post R divider frequency

Genius 12865 points

Part Number: LMX2594

Hello Team,

Can the frequency limit for the post R divider be increased above 250MHz? I would like to use 500MHz because this divider seems much better than the Pre-R divider?

Can the minimum N value be increased so we can use 250MHz as PD lower than 9GHz? with frac order 3?

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hi Hans,

If you use multiplier then there is hard limit for max multiplier output, which is 250MHz as shown in the datasheet Characteristic table. If you do 500MHz straight in it may work fine but this was beyond our test coverage and its validity is not guaranteed.

The limit for N divider is similar. 28 is the lowest limit and if this number is violated the textbox in Ticspro turns red. When frac order is set to 3, the device may work when N divider is set to above 28 and below 36 but we don't characterize or screen this.

    Regards,
    Hao
