Hello,

I'm designing a system with two modules and an 1 GBPS LVDS bus between them.

I need to place LVDS buffers/repeaters which will not be damaged when their inputs are driven before they are powered up.

If they had an Enable input and be powered at 1.8V or 2.5V would be best.

Please, suggest a part.

Also, between the same modules, I need to place single ended bidirectional translators 1.8V to 2.5V, that will not be damaged when their inputs are driven before they are powered up.

Any part for that?

Hello Mircea,

Regarding the LVDS buffer, DS90LV001 (single) and DS90LV804 (quad) buffers can handle the input being driven while not powered, and they do have enable. However, they are 3.3V devices and support rates up to 800 Mbps. Would that be sufficient?

Regarding the translators, please post a separate question so that it will get routed to the right people who support those devices

Thank you for your suggestion, this is helpful.

Please, tell me where in the data sheet or in what application note is this described, that these buffers support being driven, before power up.

Hi Mircea,

Please look at input current (I_IN) spec which is specified to be very low for Vcc=3.6 and Vcc=0.
