LM555: Asking for the edge detection and delay fucntion IC by LM555

Part Number: LM555
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN74AHC123A

Hi Team,
Customer is looking for edge detection and delay function IC. (not just rest IC)
the customer's signal will always keep high or low, when high to low or low to high event can output trigger signal about 20 ms delay timing.

Would you please recommend the proper solution for this? How can LM55 implement this function?

Here is the signal and trigger signal

  • SHH,

The 555 timer can use this lightly simulated circuit to trigger on both edges. VG1 is the input, OUT is the output.

VDD is 5V but that can be changed. If input levels don't match VDD then some rework is needed.

    TLC555 Trigger both edges.TSC

An alternative option is a less complicated but two chip solution. Use the dual one shot timer SN74AHC123A (or any other 123).  Use one timer setup to trigger on input going high and the other timer for input going low. Last step is to "OR" the two outputs into a single output.
