LMX2594EVM: VCO Core

Part Number: LMX2594EVM

Hi,

I have a doubt on information about VCO Core ranges (Table 6). When I'm lauching a calibration to obtain a 8500 MHz signal, readback register (R110) indicates me the selected VCO is n°2. However, according Table 6, it should be n°1. Is that an error in the datasheet ?

Thank you by advance,

Stéphane

  • Hi Stephane,

Sharp cut in frequency range of each VCO core is never possible. Each VCO core will have a certain amount of frequency overlapping with the adjacent core. 8500MHz is at the boundary of two VCO cores, it could be supported by both VCO1 and VCO2. An auto calibration will pick the right VCO for the best performance. Because of part to part variation, it is possible that some parts use VCO1 while others use VCO2.
