LMX2595: Power Down Problem

Part Number: LMX2595

I am using LMX2595 chip of 5 pcs for 5 frequency on one board.

After the data loaded,  total current is 2A at 3.3V

Signal status is good.  But  temperature  is  increase to 50~ 60degC.

Suddenly,  Current is down to 1.2A @3.3V  and signals disappear.

I don,t understand it,  CLK, LE, Data line don,t change on level.

Can you explain this problem?

Plese Help me.

Doohwan, Kim

  • Hi Kim,

Is 2A/1.2A only for 5 parts of LMX2595 and no other devices? In other words is the current consumption for one part is 400mA before and 240mA now? 400mA is about the correct current for a normally operating part. 240mA on the other hand, does not sound good. From my experience, I only see this current level when the part is damaged, usually fried by the power supply.

For a quick sanity check, please power down the device using "POWERDOWN" bit and see if current drops down. To do so, go to Ticspro -> "User Controls" (On the left pane) -> check POWERDOWN (Under "general controls".

    Regards,
