TPL5010: Generate 0.5 to 1 sec pulse every 1-2 hours

Customer asking the following:

I am working on a solution where I need to generate a pulse every 1 hour to 2 hours for at least half a second in duration. I tried my best with 555 timer but it does not work well and also does not seem be a good design. However, I came across TPL5010 and I think it will work. The datasheet states that, it used as wake up for micro and the wake signal is selectable from 100ms to 7200S. which should work well for me.

Please let me know if this is feasible.

Hi John,

The width of the WAKE or RSTn pulse is not configurable. The timer can be set up to create a pulse every 1 to 2 hours, but the requirement that the pulse be >500ms may be an issue. Please look at the tRSTn and tWAKE pulse widths in the datasheet.

Understood and thanks. Just want to confirm that only the timer period is adjustable to 7200s. The width of the WAKE pulse is not adjustable but fixed at 20ms.

That is correct. The timer period is adjustable, WAKE pulse width is fixed.
