LMX2572: VCO calibration time and ramp outputs

Part Number: LMX2572

Hi, I’m after information in regards to how the device operates when the min VCO calibration time is set to zero while doing a ramp that requires calibration.

Specifically, I would like to know if the device does perform calibrations while the pause time is set to zero (or times shorter than a calibration can complete in) and how this will affect the ramp i.e when the PLL will update ect.

Thanks,

James

  • Hi James,

The VCO will calibrate even if you set the "min. VCO calibration time" to zero. This parameter is not meant to change the VCO calibration characteristic, it is actually a delay or a pause time (see Figure 173 in the datasheet) being used to allow the VCO calibration to be completed before the next ramp happen.
