LMK04832EVM: Sequencing required?

Genius 12865 points
Part Number: LMK04832EVM

Helllo Team,

on the LMK04832EVM all power planes are connected at a common point. Can "Power Plane for LMK Outputs“, "VccPLLPlane“ and "VccPLLPland_2nd“ be powered by 3 different DC/DC / LDOs? Is there any requirement regarding sequencing? There is no information in the data sheet.

Thanks and Best Regards,

Hans

  • Hello Hans,

The different sections of the EVM may be powered with different LDOs or DC/DCs if desired. The EVM does not have on-board pinouts for this kind of configuration, but wires could be soldered to the jumper resistor pads or the capacitors and off-board power supplies could be used. Although the IC is intended to be powered up simultaneously across all outputs, there are not many strict sequencing requirements. There are some things to keep in mind:

    • Power up Vcc5_DIG last, or simultaneous with last. So for the EVM, when powering up the planes separately, power up the VccCLKoutPlane and VccPLLPlane_2nd before or simultaneously with VccPLLPlane, since VccPLLPlane contains Vcc5_DIG.
    • Keep all I/Os within their respective absolute maximum voltages. Clock output pins should not have voltage applied to them before the power supply voltage, for example. The same is true with digital I/O pins.
    • It is a good idea to issue a reset to the IC after power-up, to guarantee the registers are in a known default state.

    Regards,
