LMK04806: Single PLL mode with other reference input than OSCin?

Part Number: LMK04806
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04616, LMK04832

Hello,

I would like to use the LMK0480x in single PLL mode, see below Fig. 17 from data sheet. Is the OSCin the only possible reference input, or an other input like CLKin1 would be possible? This would imply an hidden mux not visible on the main bloc diagram of §8.2. This connection exist for example in part LMK04616.

I ask this because I want to use an existing board implementing a LMK04806B with this mode, but there are currently no possibility to connect a reference to OSCin. An additionnal mux, external to the LKM04806B would be needed.

Thus I would like check with a TI expert if I have a tiny chance to use this board without modification...

Best regards,

  • Hello Jean-Luc,

The LMK04806B PLL2 reference input is derived from OSCin only, and there is no mux connecting that reference input to a CLKinX. The LMK04832 muxes the CLKinX inputs to the PLL2 reference input, and has similar functionality to the LMK04806B. Otherwise, you will need an external mux to connect a reference to OSCin, as you suggested.

    Regards,
