LMK03328: How to program EEPROM using other ROM writer (Other than TICS-Pro)

Part Number: LMK03328
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS80PCI402

Hello Team,

Our customer wants to program the LMK03328 internal EEPROM in their mass production line using a ROM writer.
We need to generate EEPROM information from the register information in "Intel HEX format".

Q1). How can we program the LMH03328 internal EEPROM without using TICS Pro ?

Q2). How can we generate the HEX format file to program through ROM writer ?

Q3). Is there a way to convert .erp file to HEX format ?

Q4). Could you please provide us the EEPROM register map detail ?

Just for reference, DS80PCI402 datasheet, page 18-26, describes the HEX format information and the relation between EEPROM address and Register address.

Your support is greatly appreciated.

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • Hello Kawai,

    1) Instructions on how to program the LMK03328s EEPROM are provided on the datasheet section 10.5 Programming, 10.5.4 through 10.5.6 may be of particular interest.

    2) You can use the TICS Pro GUI to Export HEX register map this would not be Intel HEX format however.

    3) I do not believe so. You may have to write an additional script / use excel for this.

    4) Please refer to the datasheet section 10.7 EEPROM Map for this.

  • Hi Vibhu-san,

    Thank you for your support.

I thought that those were something for TICS-Pro. Carefully reading the procedure, I understood that you could transfer the register information from Register -> SRAM -> EEPROM, like what been done using TICS-Pro, by writing some registers.

Now, I would like to clarify followings.

Q5). Is there a way to directly access the internal EEPROM to program the registers ? Customer is planning to use the ROM writer, same way to program the EEPROM device itself.

    Best Regards,

    Kawai

  • Hello Kawai-san,

Please refer to 10.5.4, there are two methods to program the SRAM. The second method (top of pg. 57) may be what you're looking for.

If you are asking if you can bypass writing to SRAM, I do not believe there is a way.

  • Hi Vibhu-san,

    Understood.

Manual programming to SRAM seems to be not realistic, since, user would need to convert Register map information to EEPROM map information.

I will ask customer to follow the steps in 10.5.4 (first half step 1-4) and 10.5.5.

    Best Regards,

    Kawai
