CDCVF2505: looking for a feature equivalent device.

Part Number: CDCVF2505
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04816, CDCI6214

HI, staff

I'm looking for a feature equivalent device.

ispPAC-CLK5312S (Lattice) is looking for a substitute for EOS.

The requirements are
・ Input frequency: 44 MHz (※ It can be compatible with SSC input CLK)
・Number of output ports: 8-(* No multiplication)
・Skew and jitter performance should be equal to or better than ispPAC-CLK5312S

Please tell me which devices can be recommended by TI.

best regards

cafain

  • Hello Cafain,

The LMK04816 operated in single-loop mode should behave similarly to the Lattice device, with some notable exceptions:

    • 3.3V operation only (this will be true of nearly all TI devices with a comparable number of outputs)
    • SSC input CLK compatibility has not been tested. If SSC modulation frequency is above the loop bandwidth, there shouldn't be much impact on skew/jitter.
    • No JTAG port, but a SPI-like interface is provided
    • Output impedance and slew rate are not programmable

Another option is the CDCI6214. This device is less flexible with 8 ports single-ended (4 differential), and does not have skew control for individual outputs. On the other hand, the output voltage levels may be adjusted to 1.8V, 2.5V, and 3.3V. It is also significantly lower cost.

There are other options which share less features. Depending on which features are required, there may still be a better suggestion. If neither of the suggested devices makes sense, I may be able to give a better suggestion with more information about output formats, if 0-delay is required, if adjustable skew is required, etc.

    Regards,
