LMX2572: About the partial assist and close frequency assist mode usage of the LMX2572

Part Number: LMX2572

Hi

  1. In general, in partial assist and close frequency assist modes, if the output frequency range is 1GHz ~ 1.3GHz, and the two frequency switching intervals are 50MHz, what is the frequency lock time?
  2. If the output frequency range is 1GHz ~ 1.3GHz and the two frequency switching intervals are 50MHz, in the partial assist and close frequency assist modes, how to configure the register and configuration register order?

Thanks

  • Hi Zhao,

Did you mean you want to do a frequency sweep between 1GHz and 1.3GHz and the step size is 50MHz?

If this is the case, I suggest use close freq assist mode as the programming is simpler, you don't need to estimate the three VCO parameters.

All you need to do is set QUICK_RECAL_EN=1 and program the part as usual.

You can use PLL Sim to estimate the lock time. PLL Sim is available to download in ti.com.
