Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CDCM9102, CDCI6214
Dear *,
we need to provide clk for PCIe gen2 or gen3.
We would like to use the LMK00334 with differential 100MHz oscillator, and have some questions.
1) is there a difference if terms of signal integrity and quality or any other difference if we use LMK00334 + LVDS 100MHz differential oscillator to [ CDCM9102 + 25Mhz oscillator or CDCI6214 + 25MHz oscillator]?
2) what is the proper connection [ termination] if we provide LVDS clk to LMK00334 input, or LVPECL clk to LMK00334?
3) what kind of HCSL driver is the output driver of the LMK00334 ?
a) standard HCSL current drive
b) LP-HCSL push-pull
4) What is the output impedance of the HCSL driver?
5) if the HCSL is push-pull does it also include internal series termination?
6) When do we need the Rs series termination and Rt termination and when not? Because on the EVM the Rs is set to 0R and Rt is set to DNI ?
7) if the LMK00334 transmitter provides clk to pcie device [ eg intel i210] can the clk bi direct connected without terminations if the i210 has HCSL receiver?
8) what is the preferred differential impedance for PCIe clk gen2 and gen3? we know that the PCIe data RX/TX should be routed at 85Ohm.
Best Regards,
David.
