NE555: the exact power dissipation of NE555P for a normal working condition.

Could you give me proper response following inquiry from our customers ?

I needed the power dissipation for NE555P timer IC in a quantified value. I could find a formula description in the datasheet. Can you help me to identify the exact power dissipation in mW for a normal working condition.

    The power dissipation can be estimated by adding these positive value factors.

    VCC * ICC ; VCC set by application;  ICC can be measured and normal range is in the data sheet.

    When output low, VOUT * IOUT

    When output high, (VCC - VOUT ) * IOUT

    For astable mode, discharge power is 1/18*VCC*VCC*C   ; where F is timer frequency and C is the timing capacitance.
