LMX2594: input frequency limitation in integer mode

Part Number: LMX2594

Hello,

Our customer asks about if LMX2594 has an input frequency limitation in integer mode.

The customer believe that the reference input frequency must be 50MHz in integer mode, however we could not see such a description in the datasheet. It seems like 5 to 1400MHz or 5 to 200MHz depending on OSC_2X setting.

Could you let us know the reason if only 50MHz reference input frequency is allowable. If not, please let us know the input reference frequency range.

best regards,

  • Hi Imi-san,

The reference clock frequency has no relationship with the MASH order.

However, there is min. N requirement for each MASH order, see datasheet Table 2 for details.

For example, if reference clock = fpd = 400 MHz; VCO = 12000 MHz, then N-divider = 30. Only integer mode is possible. If fpd is reduced to 200MHz, then N-divider becomes 60, all MASH order are supported.
