LMK04832: generating low frequencies from 100MHz to 500MHz , and high frequencies 3.2Ghz using CML for both outputs with 20 Ohm resistor and 68nH inductor

Part Number: LMK04832
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DAC38RF80,

Hi ,

I am planning to use LMK04832 for driving DAC38RF80 sampling clock.

We will be testing DAC38RF80 for different frequencies.

One of the frequency will be 3.2Ghz when we use DAC38RF80 in PLL bypass mode.

And other will be low frequencies from 100 MHz to upto 500 MHz when we use DAC38RF80 in PLL mode.

I have read in datasheet of LMK04832 that best performance from outputs is achieved when LMK is used in divider bypass with CML outputs.

But in our case we will be using both low frequencies and high frequencies from the same output.

Is it possible to use CML with 20 Ohm resistor and 68nH inductor for both low frequencies and high frequencies or we should go with LVPECL and use the divider mode since divider bypass is only supported with CML?

An early response will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Lalit
