    Hi There,

    If the frequency ramp (or freq sweep) range is around 100MHz, LMX supports linear ramp - the so-called FMCW.

    However, if the ramp range is very big, then the VCO will take some time to calibration itself to the correct frequency and therefore the freq ramp becomes a staircase ramp.

    Thank you very much for your reply, which is very helpful to me. Could you please tell me the range of calibration time and how to sample the signal after mixing if I use a frequency band greater than 100MHz？

    Hi There,

    If VCO calibration is required during frequency ramping, we called it automatic ramp.

    In the datasheet, Table 16 outlines all the necessary registers for automatic ramp, and there is an example in section 7.3.13.2.1.

    You may also read LMX2572 datasheet section 8.1.7.2 for additional details on frequency ramping operation.
