LMK00334: Jitter improvement function

Part Number: LMK00334

Hello team,

Let me confirm if my understanding is correct regarding LMK00334.
When we use it with differential input, the device can transfer the input jitter through to the output since it doesn't look to have PLL(jitter cleaning function).
Is it correct understanding?

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Sawamoto,

Your understanding is correct. A clock buffer performance is specified by its additive jitter, meaning the buffer output will be larger than the input jitter.

Jitter cleaners use a PLL to filter the noise. The loop bandwidth is optimized to minimize the contribution of the input source by applying a low-pass filter to the input signal and high-pass filter to the VCO. This allows the noise floor of the jitter cleaner output to become as low as the noise floor of the VCO/VCXO, which can be significantly lower than the reference input.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
