LMX2594: High Current into CE Pin

Part Number: LMX2594

Hi Team,

My customer is seeing some strange behavior with the LMX2594 and I'd like to get your help. The SPI pins on the MCU that they are using to interface with the LMX are often being damaged.

They are seeing >100mA of current being sunk into CE when VCC is off and shorted to ground. Is it possible that the voltage applied to CE is tripping the ESD diode between CE and VCC?

Thanks,
Mitchell

  • Hi Mitchell,

    This is possible.

A good common practice is to have a small series resistor for every digital control pin in order to limit the current flow.

Please also note that, the MUXout pin is not high-Z when CE is low. Make sure that this pin is not shared with other devices connecting to the same MISO bus in the SPI interface.
