LMX2594: Need More Output Power!

Part Number: LMX2594

Comrades,

I need more output power from the LMX2594. I'm hoping this can be accomplished using the inductor pull-ups, instead of the 50 ohm resistor pull-ups. My frequency range is 12 to 12.5 GHz. What's the formula I would use to calculate my inductor values? Is it simply calculating the inductor value for 50 ohms reactance?  I don't see that in the datasheet anywhere. Thx in advance!

  • HI BobL,

The impedance of the inductor should be high at the frequencies of interest. We recommend to pick an inductor with high SRF.

Our test shown an 1nH, SRF=13.5GHz inductor returns the highest output power at 12GHz.

If you don't need differential output, you can combine both pins together with a balun in order to get a higher single-ended output power.
