LMK03200: Output and input configuration

Part Number: LMK03200
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK03318

1. The datasheets states that the LMK03200 has 3 LVDS output buffers and 5 LVPECL output buffers but there is no description of any register configuration or specific channels that are dedicated for one or another. Does it mean that the outputs are fully flexible for user configuration? Could you elaborate on this issue?

2. Is it possible to use as OSCin input an RS-485 digital clock? A SE digital clock?

What kind of adjustments are required?

Thanks

  • Hello Doron,

The outputs in this device are fixed either LVDS or LVPECL.  The pin descriptions in Table 2.1 provides the mapping.

The device can support single ended inputs, although if there is high noise on the reference it may contribute to the phase noise in band.

For more recent offerings the LMK03318 may be an option as this provides more flexibility in output types with up to 8 AC-LVPECL, AC-LVDS, AC-CML, HCSL or LVCMOS Outputs, or Any Combination

    Regards,

  • Hi Liam

    Thanks for your answers

You didn't address the question regarding running OSCin input an RS-485 digital (rectangular) clock?

    Looking forward to your answer

    Thanks in advance

    Doron

  • Hello Doron,

Sorry I thought your question was related to having a single ended CMOS input.

Yes, square wave is fine as long as the input voltage level and slew rate requirements are met.

    Regards,

    Liam
