Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK04828, , LMK04826
I know it is suitable for LMK04828 to be used in JESD204B protocol system, I want to know if LMK04806 can be used in JESD204B protocol as clock conditioner to replace LMK 04826 ?
thx.,

Hello David,
LMK04806 could functionally replace LMK04826 in many cases, but there are limitations. Aside from the difference in phase noise performance, the SYSREF divider of the LMK04826 is eight times larger than the output dividers of the LMK04806, and the LMK04826 SYSREF divider includes SYSREF retiming synchronization options and a SYSREF pulser. Subclass 0 and Subclass 2 JESD204B systems do not require a JESD204B compliant clock generator, and could be constructed with LMK04806. Simple Subclass 1 systems could conceivably be constructed, but the SYSREF would have to be continuous which could impact the phase noise of nearby clocks, and if the SYSREF frequency is lower than Device Clock / 1045, the output divider will not be able to generate the SYSREF frequency. If multiple clock generators must be synchronized across the system, the LMK04806 has limited options for multi-device synchronization, while the LMK04826 has many options. Note that all TI devices advertising JESD204B capability support Subclass 1.
