LMK04832: Setup Questions (TICSPro & PLLatinumSim)

Part Number: LMK04832

Team,

For my main LMK04832, TICS Pro says I should be in Single loop mode, so I think not really using PLL1. What do I do with Cpout1?
Do I need to do anything in PLLatinum Sim for PLL1?

When I run my secondary LMK04832's (x3), I get C1 = 0.15nF but then in the LMK04832 Design Tips popup box it says:

I think that means that I install a 150pF cap on the board which make C1total = 210pF which is the number you should use in the Phase noise simulation but then after you adjust that, you have to remember that the number on the board is really 150pF.  Do I place a 150 pF cap on the board?

Thank you.

  • Hi Go,

CPout1 can be left floating when PLL1 is not used.

No PLLatinum Sim simulation is required for PLL1.

For the 60pF on C1 note, you add 60pF to the C1 in PLLatinum Sim to simulate the real expected value of the filter; but you would place a 150pF cap on the board. If PLLatinum Sim says 150pF is the best value for C1, you could place a 100pF cap instead and the total capacitance would come out to 160pF, which is relatively close to the value PLLatinum Sim recommends.

    Regards,
