TICSPRO-SW: Current version on web is v1.7.0.0, but the installer it downloads is v1.6.10.0

Part Number: TICSPRO-SW
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK05318B, LMX2820

Hi, when I download TICSPRO-SW, it gives me a snac072ae.zip file, and the file inside is labeled "TICS Pro Install, 2020-06-19, 15-24-59.exe". However, the actual version it installs is 1.6.10.0.

Can you post the correct, latest version to the TICSPRO-SW page?

Thanks

  • Hi there,

Thanks for the note, we will correct the version number in the next release. However, all the Ticpsro profiles are up to date.

    Regards,
    Hao

  • So even though the About screen for the latest installer shows the below information, the actual program is v1.7.0.0, and the build date is also wrong?

Is there any way I can look at a program feature that changed between v1.6.10.0 and v1.7.0.0 and verify that the underlying program is really v1.7.0.0?

  • Hi Dan,

The most recent version pushed to the web should include the LMX2820 under the PLL + VCO submenu, and the LMK05318B under the Network Synchronizer Clock (Digital PLLs) submenu, of the Select Device menu.

You can look at the latest release notes for TICS Pro at C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\TICS Pro\TICS Pro_Release_Notes.pdf, and review the changes made for each version. Generally a new release is made for each device, and devices are typically not removed even if obsoleted, so checking for the presence of the latest release's devices is a reliable method of ensuring you have the latest version of TICS Pro.

I just downloaded and installed the latest version of the software from the website (contained in snac072ae.zip) and verified that the correct versions of these products are included. It looks like our most recent release on 19-June-2020 included TICS Pro version 1.6.10.0 instead of 1.7.0.0, so we will correct the packaged binary for the next release. However, there are only two core updates between 1.6.10.0 and 1.7.0.0, and these core updates are not critical bug fixes, so the 1.6.10.0 binary should be acceptable until we update the installer again with the correct and most up-to-date binary. The device profiles are separate from the binary and in most cases can be operated from older or newer versions of the binary without issues (exceptions will be noted in the release notes wherever core updates are made).

    Regards,

  • Thanks for the in-depth response, Derek. It is clear to me now and I have no issues.
