Regarding Real Time clock (RTC)

Hi,

Please clarify below RTC doubts

1. Does RTC has any diagnostic feedback feature?

2. Do we have RTC's that diagnose lost time or set up time?

3. What is device grade for RTC "BQ32000D" ? Also it has accuracy of  +/-35ppm as per datasheet, what factors does accuracy of RTC depends on and can this be reduced to <+/-10ppm .

4. Can you suggest RTC that can have accuracy < +/- 10ppm?

Regards

  • A1. You can read back the OF bit (Register 0x01[7]) to determine whether an oscillator failure occurred. This bit must be cleared after power up as it initializes to logic high.

    A2. I don't believe we have a device with such built-in features.

A3. RTC accuracy depends on the accuracy of the XTAL and its stability across temperature. Accuracy can be increased by calibration. See this post for more info about calibration: https://e2e.ti.com/support/clock-and-timing/f/48/t/703635

A4. You would be looking for an RTC with integrated temperature compensation. We do not offer such RTCs at this time.

    Kind regards,
    Lane
