LMK05028: TICS Pro register setting in case of LMH1981 and LMK05028

Part Number: LMK05028
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMH1981, LMH1983

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask LMK05028?
Our customer considers using  LMH1981 and LMK05028 for 12GSDI like as following URL;
https://www.ti.com/lit/an/snaa314/snaa314.pdf

For video clock, at end of video clock sync, these clock should be no shortage or surplus even with one .
Just for example, in case of SD video 480i59.9, we would like to confirm to generate 27MHz from HORIZONTAL SYNC OUTPUT.
One period of  HORIZONTAL SYNC OUTPUT contains 1716's 27MHz clocks.
In this case HORIZONTAL SYNC OUTPUT will be 15.734kHz, so in order to generate 27MHz, we have to set divider 208 times.->VCO=5616MHz

<Question>
We have question about TICS Pro register setting.
Should we clculate above settings in reference to video format?
If you have some calculate format for TICSPro, could you share us?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Hirotaka,

    My coworker will get back to you tomorrow.

  • Hi Hirotak,

    We don't have calculated settings for video format ready to go, but the software should be able to handle this. Simply enter the output frequencies needed from the 5028 (27 MHz is one, presumably a 148.5 or a 148.35 as well?) and click calculate frequencies. The GUI will let you know whether the configuration is feasible or not.

    Simple rule it's going to use, is whether the frequencies can be generated from "2 unique frequency domains". Since LMK05028 has 2 VCOs, it can divide down from those 2.

    Another chip to keep in mind that has been used in Video formats before and goes with the LMH1981 - the LMH1983.

    Thanks and regards,

    Amin
