Dear sir,
Here is my design:
The RF amplifier CMD305P3, which connected to RF output of the PLL, was burned several times at power up. The Max. input power of the CMD305P3 for damage is +10dBm. The PLL programmed such that RF output will be 14.3GHz. According to figure 18 at the datatsheets (inductor pull-up), the output power is approximately +3dBm. Is there any high power at the output of the PLL at power up before programming? Is there any way to ensure that the RF output of the PLL will be turned off before programming? Is there any other ideas to solve the failure?
Note: We suspect that the max. input power to the RF amplifier is lower than reported by the manufacturer.
