LMX2594: VOSCin Limit

Part Number: LMX2594
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00304

Dear Support,

We are using a single-ended 50MHz reference input that is AC coupled to the LMX OSCinP port.  The OSCinM pin is AC coupled to ground.  Caps are 0.1uF.

The LMX2594 datasheet indicates that VOSCIN should range from 0.2 to 2Vpp. I assume these limits apply when measured directly at the OSCinP pin and are referenced to ground.

How important is this 2Vpp max value?

Can TI offer suggestions for a voltage limiting circuit with minimal phase noise impact?

Thank you.

  • Hello Geoff,

You could use a low noise LVDS or LVPECL buffer to convert the higher swing input to a lower swing LVDS or LVPECL swing that the LMX2594 can accept.

You could take a look at the LMK00304 and other options that you can find here:

    Thanks,

    Vibhu
