LMK00338: Does it support the application of PCIe gen5

Part Number: LMK00338
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMK00334

I want to know if LMK00334 and LMK00338 supports the application of PCIe gen5. If so, how much additional jitter will be?thx

  • Hello!

The LMK00334 as well as LMK00338 datasheets are in the process of being updated to indicate they will support the application of PCIe Gen5.

I'm not sure what your initial device is and therefore cannot perform a comparison to the LMK00334 and LMK00338 but the specification for PCIe Gen5 Cycle Jitter is 150 ps. This information can be found within PCI Express Base Specification Revision 5.0 found on the PCI-SIG's website.

  • What I want to know is the additive jitter of lmk00334 in gen5?  In addition, why is the additive of lmk00334 under gen3 and gen4 different?

  • Hello!

We plan to update the datasheet for the LMK00334 as below:

PCIe 3.0 to PCIe 4.0 use different filter combinations as seen under the 'Test Conditions' tab as slew rate increases from 0.6 V/ns in PCIe Gen3.0 to 1.8V/ns in PCIe Gen4.0.

The worst filter combination is the datasheet specification we use for these devices.
