LMK00304: CLKin_Sel0/1 pin difference between Datasheet and EVM users guide

Hi Expert

- Regarding CLKin_Sel0/1 pin#,

CLKin_Sel0/1 pin# on the EVM schematics is below,

    16pin : CLKin_Sel0 (Datasheet 13pin)

    13pin : CLKin_Sel1 (Datasheet 16pin)

Is it typo? Datasheet pin# is correct, right?

-Regarding single-ended clock input,

They can use input pins both CLKin and OSCin.

DO you have any recommendation for it?

Could you please let me know the difference of characterization for each input?

-Regarding unused input.

The unused output pin terminations is described in datasheet.

Could you please let me know the termination method of unused input?

Thanks

Muk

  • Hi Mukuno-san,
Apologies for the delayed response. See below for my answers:

    1) The datasheet is the most accurate document for the pin-out. I believe there must have been a confusion as pin 13 and pin 16 have very similar functionality. So to be clear: Pin 13 is CLKin_SEL0 and Pin 16 is CLKin_SEL1

    2) Yes, customer can use both CLKin and OSCin for single-ended input. If you look at the datasheet, there is actually mention of CLKin being more preferred if one has to choose since it offers higher operating frequency, better common mode and power supply noise rejection.

    3)  Depending on whether the single-ended input is AC coupled or DC coupled into the part, the other side of the input pair, needs to be terminated accordingly. Refer figure 25:

    DC coupled:

Let me know if there are still any questions or concerns.

  • Hi Badarish-san,

    Thank you for your answer.

The customer plan to use CLKin0 only.

Can CLKin1, OSCin, OSCout be open?

    Thanks

    Muk

  • Hi Muk-san,

Yes, you can leave them floating.

    Thanks and regards,

    Amin
