LMX2592: Full assist calibration

Part Number: LMX2592
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMX2594

Hello team,

Does LMX2592 support full assist calibration mode like LMX2594?

We can force VCO core though, how about amplitude setting and frequency band?

and what register do we have to readback if LMX2592 could support full assist mode?

Best regards,

  • Hi Sato-san,

Yes, it does support full assist mode similar to LMX2594. However, this mode was not characterized during product development, we do not know if there is any undiscovered issues. That's why datasheet does not contain any information about full assist mode.

The operation of this mode is also similar to LMX2594. First of all, perform an auto-calibration to find the VCO parameters. TICS Pro already support the read back of these parameters. To manually apply these values, enable the VCO_CAPCTRL_OVR, VCO_IDAC_OVR and VCO_SEL_FORCE bits.

  • Taketo-san,

The LMX2592 full assist mode is not as well documented or robust as the LMX2594 full assist mode, but I can tell you the useful bits you are looking for.

They are also in the TICSPro.

    1. To read back the VCO calibration parameters, you can use these fields.

    rb_VCO_SEL            (R68[7:5])

    rb_VCO_CAPCTRL (R69[6:0])

    rb_VCO_DACISET  (R70[8:0])

    2. To tell the LMX2592 to force settings, use:

    VCO_SEL_FORCE (R23[10])

    VCO_CAPCTRL_OVR (R8[10])

    VCO_IDAC_OVR (R8[13])

    3.  To tell the actual values use:

    VCO_SEL (R23[13:11])

    VCO_CAPCTRL (R22[7:0])

    VCO_IDAC (R19[11:3]
