CDCEL9XXPROGEVM: Can't set up connection with the EVM board

Part Number: CDCEL9XXPROGEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB3410, USB2ANY

Hi,

I just received the EVM board from TI today and am running Windows 10 on my PC. I have read all E2E related threads about this evm board and followed any possible steps they suggested, I still couldn't set up the communication with my PC.

From my PC Device Manager windows, I can see the hardware:

1. TI CDCE(L)9xx Programming Evaluation Module(COM3) with a warning sign

"Windows cannot verify the digital signature for the drivers required for this device. A recent hardware or software change might have installed a file that is signed incorrectly or damaged, or might be malicious software from an unknown source. (Code 52)

Could you please advice if you really solved the driver issue before? or the EVM board need an updated driver and tools?

Thanks,

Tom

  • Hello Tom,

The driver issues prior to Windows 7 were fixed with an updated driver although with current OS software we are continuing to have communications issues without bypassing this code - this is not advised or encouraged.

We have communicated with internal teams about available updates to the multiple I2C chips used on this board. The CDCE9xxPERFEVM can communicate through FT2232 chip although CDCE9xxPROGEVM chips - MSP430 and TUSB3410 are having issues.

Next week the team will be testing the use of USB2ANY (I2C programmer) directly to the socket I2C communication lines bypassing these chips while hopefully maintaining communication and programmability with the device.

Please give us time to come up the necessary modification to return functionality.

  • Hello Tom,

We have finished our look into this device. As described earlier, this EVM was failing due to TUSB3x10 device. If device programming is needed a workaround for this device is available using an external USB2ANY and USB2ANY explorer software.

Please reach out to me privately through e-mail or E2E for sensitive information and we can work together of this if needed.

We understand you have followed up with the customer service center and TI will continue to assist you through this path if desired.

  • Hello Tom,

Again, feel free to reach out to me, I'd be happy to help in the rework of this EVM!

I will be closing this thread, if anything else is needed please feel free to ask another question here on E2E.

  • We have found our way to program the devices and we can close the case. Meanwhile, could you please update your website to provide an complete solution?

    Thanks,

  • Hello Tom,

We are working on a complete solution, rest assured. Good to hear you have a solution.
