LMC555: difference between LMC555CMX/NOPB & TLC555IDR

Part Number: LMC555
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TLC555

What is the difference between these 2 MPNs LMC555CMX/NOPB & TLC555IDR?

  • Hello,

There are several differences between the two devices from a specification level. A few examples are the following.

The LMC555 timer has a maximum frequency typical specification, fmax of 3.0 MHz. The TLC555 specifies a typical fmax of 2.1 MHz.

The supply currents vary as well between the two devices. For example, at a supply voltage of 5V and room temperature (25℃) the LMC555 has a typical 100uA specification, and the TLC555 has a typical 170uA specification under the same conditions. You will notice the maximum specification here differs as well.

In the TLC555 product data sheet you will see there are specifications for “Full Range”. Full Range is defined on footnote 1 on page 7 of the TLC555 product data sheet as:

“(1) Full range is 0°C to 70°C for the TLC555C, and –40°C to 85°C for the TLC555I. For conditions shown as Max, use the appropriate value specified in the Recommended Operating Conditions table.”

These full range specifications are not available for the LMC555.

The physical size of the SOIC variants is the same on both products with the nominal body size specification of 4.90 mm × 3.91 mm.
