CDCI6214: Initialization time

Hi, support team.

I have a question about Initialization time.

Datasheet describes the Initialization time(tINIT = tEELOAD+ tSTAB) is MAX 5ms.

However it takes more than 10ms to success I2C communication after POR in our system.

Does CDCI6214 require additional time after Initialization time to success I2C?

Please let me know any information or idea.

Hello,

The initialization time applies when EEPROM is used. tEELOAD means how long it takes to load the EEPROM content to registers and tSTAB means how long it takes to stabilize.

If you use I2C for live programming then this spec won't apply.

Hello,

You mean that there is no spec betwee POR and the first I2C accsess?

Do we have to decide the time by ourself with evaluation?

Hi there,

The I2C can be accessed as soon as the device is powered up. However, "power up" here means that all VDD pins plus RESETN pin reach 95% of their final values. In your system, it may take longer for the power pins to ramp up. You can estimate the VDD ramping time and decide when to start programming I2C. The tINIT spec is talking about a different thing.
