LMK05028: Power Consumption From 4 Clock Inputs

Part Number: LMK05028

Hi,

I am having trouble finding the typical power consumption of the LMK05028 device. I am planning on having for clock inputs @ 36 Mhz and a single output.

What would the typical power consumption be for this setup? I don't need exact numbers, just an idea of what it might be.

Thanks,

Thomas

  • Hi Thomas,

    This is covered in the first part of section 7.5 in the datasheet (which I assume you've reviewed and got confused by so we'll go into the details here):

    I'm understanding your needs to be:

    • 4 inputs at 36 MHz (note XO input is still needed)
    • 1 output --> only 1 PLL
    • No need for 3 loop / TCXO in -->  Configuration A

    So the estimate would be as follows:

    1. IDD_INx (mA) - 3.5 x 3 + 6
    2. IDD_XO (mA) - 25
    3. IDD_PLL1 (mA) - 160
    4. IDD_DIG (mA) - 34
    5. IDDO_x (mA) - assuming LVDS output type - 22

    Note max numbers are provided in the table as well if you want a gauge of how much variation you can expect over voltage, temperature, and process.

    2nd item to note - you can reduce VDDO supply to 1.8V and have some current savings (minor) but definitely some power savings.

    Thanks and regards,

    Amin
