LMX2572: Calibration feature

Part Number: LMX2572

Hi team,

I know the VCO of LMX2572  does a self-calibration, I’d like to know its behavior if the part is switched on at -40C (does an automatic self cal) and then brought up to 85C.  Will it remain locked or will a re-calibration be required?

Thanks,

Connie

  • Hi Connie,

There is a specification on page 7 of the datasheet, at the very bottom of the table, called "Allowable temperature drift". This spec basically says that, for the range of -40°C to 85°C, calibrating the device should allow ±125°C of variation in device temperature from the calibration temperature without requiring a new calibration. For example, in your question, you switch the device on at -40°C, perform automatic calibration, and then bring the device up to 85°C; the device should remain locked from -40°C to 85°C, since you calibrated within the -40°C to 85°C range and increased the temperature by 85 - (-40) = 125°C, which is within the allowable temperature drift spec.

    Thank you!
