CDCI6214: How to set the load capacitance of external crystal oscillator

The internal load capacitance of CDCI6214 is 5~8pF.Whether the load capacitance of the external crystal oscillator must be matched to 5-8pF?Or can I externally self-match the load capacitance?

Hello Dominic,

The CDCI6214 requires the use of a crystal with a load capacitance of 5-8pF. To understand how the Load Capacitance should be set up please see this application report - CDCE6214-Q1 Crystal-Based Oscillator Design. Within section 2.3 you can see how the 3 parts of 'C_L': External load capacitance (C_L1, C_L2), internal load capacitance (C_int_L1, C_int_L2) and stray capacitance (C_stray).
