ADC08D1500: Compatibility with ADC08D1520

Part Number: ADC08D1500
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC08D1520,

Customer is designing a platform with interchangeable ADC08D1500 & ADC08D1520.

1. Any recommendations on how to design to support the minor pin differences between these 2 devices?

2. On their FPGA side, can the exact same software be used? Is there any configuration differences required?

  • HI Eddie,

    Checking on this.

I will get back to you.

    Thx,

    Rob

  • Hi Eddie,

See attached for pin functionality differences. A common pcb can be used.

The configuration register details have some differences. If the customer is using extended control mode (config registers) then their FPGA firmware will need to write the appropriate default and alternative values specific to the device loaded on the board. To do this, the customer will need to configure the board/FPGA specific to the ADC installed, since there isn’t any register read capability to ask the ADC which type it is.1273.Pin compatibility of 1500 vs 1520.pdf

The output data timing is identical, so the customer can use the same data capture firmware in the FPGA.

    Rob
