AMC3336: measure the voltage and current of the AC line

Part Number: AMC3336
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AMC3302

I am sharing the block diagram of the circuit to explain the question to you more clearly.

I am asked to measure the voltage and current of the AC line. But I am expected to measure these measurements simultaneously. For example, when the voltage of the line between L1 and L2 is measured, the current of the line between L1 and L2 should be measured.

I've shown you the region of places that need to be measured with red lines. It is necessary to read the measurements in this region at the same time and send them to the processor side. Can I make this required measurement with the AMC3336 and AMC3302? Do integrateds have such a capacity? If not, do you have a recommended product?

Additionally, can I measure the current of the area with the AMC3336 instead of the AMC3302?

  • Hi Lidong,

I think it's best to ensure that the abs max rating of the device isn't violated. So in the case of the AMC3336 and AMC3302, you want to apply a minimum of HGND - 6V and HLDO_OUT + 0.5V. Both devices also have a maximum input current rating of 10mA so please ensure this is not violated.

The AMC3336 can in fact be used for current measurements as long as the input current does not exceed 10mA.
