ADS8578S: Reading in serial mode

Part Number: ADS8578S

Dear sir,

Request you to help me with the following queries:

I am Programming the IC from FPGA.

1.no oversampling, stby PIN  high, range PIN high, reset controlling from Fpga

2.i want to read the data of 8 channels from douta in serial mode of operation and am following the data sheet for serial mode connections.(par/sel=1,db15=0).

if i want to read all channels data from douta i am issuing 112 sclk cycles to read from ic,but can you help me with the CONVSTA,CONVSTB signals how to handle them in serial mode(whether tied together or left individually)

to read the data from douta(8 channels)

Also request you to help me the reading flow for above settings and also consta, convstb timing for serial mode

  • Hello,

The CONSTA and CONVSTB can be handle in either method, tied together, or separately, this should be decided based on the application and need.

CONSTA controls the start of a conversion for the first 4 channels, while CONVSTB controls the start of the conversion for the second half of the channels (4-7)

If your desire is for all 8 channels to sample simultaneously, then i suggest tying both pins to the same signal.

    Regards

    Cynthia
