DAC161S997: Derive GND signal from Integrated Power?

Part Number: DAC161S997

Hello,

I am starting a project using the DAC161S997.

I need some information, and that is if it is possible to derive the ground signal directly from the integrated to power an up, or it must be supplied directly from the external source.

Thanks!

Connor

  • Connor,

I'm not completely sure I understand your question, but let me explain something first and this may answer your question. The loop power and the power for the DAC161S997 are not isolated. If you look at the block diagram for operation:

COMD and COMA are at ground for the device. The voltage at LOOP- (OUT pin) is below ground by a certain voltage determined by the loop current and the resistors going to OUT. This is how the device controls the loop current. Regardless of power, the ground will be above the LOOP- voltage.

    Does this answer your question?

Happy Friday! Yes, this answered my question.

    Appreciate all of the help!
