ADS1192ECG-FE: Why ECG signal has offset?

Part Number: ADS1192ECG-FE

Hi,

I acquired ECG data from ADS1192ECG-FE eval board using wet electrodes as follows,

Red electrode = IN1N, Blue electrode = IN1N and Black electrode = RLD.

I acquired the following waveform with 250 sps, Gain=6 and Vref=2.4 set in GUI.

Why is there an offset in my waveform?. Is the waveform correct?

Should I change settings in my eval board GUI or change the electrode placement position on hands to remove the offset?

Why is the acquired ECG signal not similar to the standard ECG waveform as shown below,

Please clarify my query.

Thank you,

Vedashree

  • Hi,

Do both Red and Blue electrode go to IN1N?

I suggest put RLD electrode on Right Leg to see if anything improves.

ECG signal measured from human body without proper signal conditioning and/or filtering will always have offsets. Offsets could from many various sources/factors, e.g. body, breathing, air in lung, walking/talking, skin conditions, environmental surroundings, EMI, electrodes, gels, etc. And, the amount/magnitude of the offsets depends cases by cases.

You may try the following filters to see if it helps -

And, I suggest to start with an ECG simulator first if this is for product development.

    Thanks
