AFE5832: Hand-held smart probes

Part Number: AFE5832
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIDA-010057, TX7332, , TX7516, AFE58JD28, AFE58JD48

Dear sir,

We want to developed an hand-held Ultrasound smart probes. We have following questions

1.The hand-held smart probe with the best imaging performance is designed. What transmit chip and receive chip are used?

2.Can I buy a fully assembled Swaroop board and  and TIDA-010057 for testing and performance validation?

3.How can I get the latest smart Swaroop board design files:SWROOP-SMARTPROBE-DESIGN - Ultrasound Smart ProbeTm reference design files. Can we process and assemble the gerber file in the design file into Swaroop for testing and performance verification?

  • Hi Aaron,

Thank you for your interest in the Swaroop design and TIDA design. Please find my response inline:

1.The hand-held smart probe with the best imaging performance is designed. What transmit chip and receive chip are used?

TI: There is always a trade-off of power consumption and performance when it comes to ultrasound imaging. Typically hand-held systems are power limited, and hence you will have to compromise on system performance. Keeping the same in mind, TI offers wide range of ultrasound rx and tx products designed for premium performance to low power hand-held systems with very good performance. Channel integration also plays a crucial role.

    For low power hand-held application:

TX - TX7332 will be the best suitable option (32 channel)

    RX - AFE5832LP, 4nV/rtHz noise (32 Channel)

For premium performance (typically used for cart based systems)

    TX: - TX7516 (16 Channel)

    RX - AFE58JD48 (0.8nV/rtHz noise) /AFE58JD28 (16 Channel)

The swaroop design is based on TX7332+AFE5832LP combination.

2/3 Can I buy a fully assembled Swaroop board and TIDA-010057 for testing and performance validation? How can I get the latest smart Swaroop board design files?

TI: TI offers this solution as a reference design for customers to build their system on top of this. So, our model for these designs is to provide the necessary design files such as CAD files, Gerbers, Firmware etc to the customer and they can use our material and modify the same according to their requirements and build their own boards. We can provide the required support to bring up the functionality.

For TIDA-010057: you can find the design files here: TIDA-010057 reference design | TI.com

For Swaroop Design: Please send a mail along with the following information about your company and intended application to me and I can help you get the access to the server data.

    1. Name of the Company

    2. Address, contact, Email address and website of the company

    3. End Application of the product

    4. My TI account address
