ADC124S101: Performance outside of stated sample rate

Part Number: ADC124S101
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADC124S021, ADC124S051

Our product uses the ADC124S021 which specifies 50 to 200 ksps. Our application utilises the ADC at 62.5 ksps, however our CEM has requested we allow for the ADC124S051 and ADC124S101 also to increase availability. The datasheet for these parts implies that they will be running outside of spec at the lower sample rate, but my assumption is that this wouldn't be an issue as these parts are likely binned for performance and running at a lower speed should not cause any performance impact. Could this be confirmed?

  • Hi Philip,

Welcome to our e2e forum!  The ADC124S021, ADC124S051 and ADC124S101 show the details of their respective performance in the Electrical Characteristics tables.  As noted above that table, the clock speeds vary from device to device based on their sampling rates.  There is also a note (3) under the fSCLK detail in the AC Electrical Characteristics which describes the functional range of the SCLK frequency.  If you look at the Operational Ratings table(s), you will find that all three devices can operate correctly with a clock frequency as low as 50kHz.  There may be slight differences in performance, but they will all work at your 62.5 kSPS rate.
