ADS54J54EVM: Exploring Integration Possibilities: Interfacing ADS54J54EVM with AMD's Virtex utrascale+ FPGA (VCU118 EVM) or kintex utrascale+ FPGA (KCU118 EVM)

Part Number: ADS54J54EVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS54J54, , ADC12QJ1600

Hi,

We are currently in the process of designing a custom board that will incorporate either AMD's Virtex Ultrascale+ FPGA or Kintex Ultrascale+ FPGA, in addition to the ADS54J54 ADC from TI.

We've observed that both AMD and TI offer evaluation module (EVM) boards. Could you please clarify whether it's possible to interface the ADS54J54EVM and AMD's VCU118EVM or KCU118EVM boards? This information would greatly facilitate the overall development process.

Thanks and regards,

Vetrivel M

  • Hi Vetrivel,

The ADS54J54 is compatible with both the VCU118 and KCU116. The one thing to note is that on the KCU116 only 4 SerDes lanes are connected to the FMC connector so you will only be able to use modes that use 4 lanes or less. On the VCU118 all 8 lanes are connected so there are no restrictions on the number of SerDes lanes.

  • Hi ,

    Thanks for your valuable inputs.

Can you pls suggest the quad channel ADC EVM with the following spec.

    1.FMC support.

    2. Quad channel (Preferring single chip solution, because of phase matching requirement)

    3.Analog BW 300Khz-500MHz

    4. Maximum sampling frequency 200MSPS.

    5. 16bit ADC

    6. SNR 72dB at 153 MSPS sampling frequency

    7. SFDR 85dB at 153 MSPS sampling frequency

    8. Dynamic Range 70dB

    Mother card: Xilinx VCU118 EVM

    Thanks and regards,

  • Hi Vetrivel,

I would suggest looking at the ADC12QJ1600.

    See link: www.ti.com/.../adc12qj1600.pdf

I think it will be very difficult to find a 16bit quad in our converter portfolio unfortunately.

    Thanks,

    Rob
