Syncing two ADS1601 data convertors

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: ADS1601

The data sheet says you can sync two ADC1601 data convertors by asserting the SYNC input on both parts while clocking them from the same clock.

Once they are synced, the FSO and SCLK outputs from each chip should be identical. Can I use the FSO and SCLK signals from one chip to clock the data for both chips? That would simplify the logic, but I am concerned that there may be some timing variation between the two parts that would cause problems.

Thank you,

Frank

  • Hi Frank,

The ADS1601 can have multiple devices synced to the same CLK, and after a common SYNC pulse, the SCLK and FSOs should be synchronized, but your going to have two data streams to deal with.  Data out of these parts operates in a master mode, so your going to have to have two 'recievers' to collect the data; you can't feed SCLK and FSO from one to the other as in a daisy chain type application.
