AFE4400: Question about measuring SpO2

Part Number: AFE4400
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: AFE4490, AFE4403, AFE4432, AFE4460

Dear TI experts,

My customer considers IC to measure SpO2, and have few questions about it. Could you check the questions below?

1. Is there any IC which can measure only SpO2?

I found AFE4490, AFE4403, AFE4490, but all can measure also heart rate. Am I right?

2. Is there any IC which can measure SpO2 with chest patch, not fingertips?

I found the thread below, but the answer is not clear.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/data-converters-group/data-converters/f/data-converters-forum/1099023/chest-patch-for-spo2-and-respiration?keyMatch=SPO2

3. What is the best IC to measure SpO2 and ECG for patient monitor device? Could you recommend one?

Best regards,

Chase

  • Hi,

Please define BEST. And, to develop a product, there are many dependent factors and attributes that require customers and R&D engineers to play, test and tune, do experiment, data collection&analysis and re-iterate.

All, the chips you mentioned can achieve SpO2 and heart rate, but require customers to select LED-PDs, R&D of optics, mechanical, algorithms, etc.

Right now we are promoting AFE4460 and AFE4432, You may suggest customers to take a look these.

    Thanks

  • Dear Chienchun,

    Thank you for your support.

They already have a product in mass production, which solution is ADI. So they have ability to develop a product with TI AFE IC.

anyway I looked the part you mentioned, AFE4460 and AFE4432, I think these are for wearable device.

Could you check the IC which can measure SpO2 for patient monitor? (not wearable device)

    1. IC which can measure only SpO2

    2. IC which can measure SpO2 and EGC

    Please check this issue. Thanks.

    Best regards,

    Chase
