DAC6551-Q1: Accuracy calculation on worst case

Part Number: DAC6551-Q1

Hi Expert,

I want to confirm with u about the accuracy calculation on worst case. Would you mind giving me some introduction? Especially how the accuracy on Vref and comparator affect the accuracy of DAC6551AQD?

They are tend to use DAC DAC6551AQDcomparator TLV9030QDB, Vref REF4132B25DBVRQ1.

Many thanks and happy new year!

Kind Regards

Imelda

  • Hi Imelda,

    Happy new year!

It looks like the comparator is connected to the output of the DAC. This isn't going to have an effect on accuracy of the DAC output.

The reference accuracy will directly affect the accuracy of the DAC. If the reference error is 5%, the DAC output error (due to the reference) will be 5%.

The DAC also has internal errors that contribute to the total output accuracy.

TI has a video that discusses these errors and how to best estimate total unadjusted error (TUE) (note that relative accuracy in this datasheet is INL). You can also include the reference error in the equation shown in this video, but based on the figure you shared it looks like you expect the reference error to be very low, so it will not have much of a contribution to the final result. https://www.ti.com/video/series/precision-labs/ti-precision-labs-digital-to-analog-converters--dacs-.html#
