DAC7678: Floating ADDR0 pin and power supply risetime

Part Number: DAC7678

Is it possible to send a global command to all 3 DAC7678 DACs on the same I2C bus that will cause them to re-examine the ADDR0 pin and establish a new address?

I'm about to test a new design that I use a floating ADDR0 pin to select the address of a DAC7678 and am not sure what the power supply (3.3V in my case) risetime is.  Is there a specification for the risetime of the power supply to guarantee that a floating ADDR0 pint gets properly recognized?

Thank you!

  • Hi David,

This device supports "Broadcast Addressing", which sends a global address that the DAC7678 will recognize regardless of the address pin state. This broadcast address is 0x8E.

You can use this address to force a software reset. This is equivalent to a power-on reset, so this should re-examine the address pin. You can find the software reset command on page 34 of the datasheet.

    Thanks,
    Erin
